SO YOU WANT TO BE A PROFESSIONAL PILOT?

There hasn't been a better time in the history of aviation to become a professional pilot.  The industry is changing and skilled pilots are rapidly becoming a rare commodity.  Boeing and Airbus project an industry need for an additional 800,000 pilots by 2040.  The growing worldwide demand means two important things for those looking for a rewarding career: more available jobs and more money as air carriers compete for highly trained aviators to fill the cockpit.

The Private Pilot's License is the first step for aviators, whether flying for hobby or career.  As a private pilot, you are allowed to fly passengers (not for hire) such as your family and friends and split the costs of the trip.  You can fly in visual conditions often requiring as little as 3 miles of visibility and remaining a good distance from flying into clouds.  While you will receive a minimum amount of instrument training during your Private Pilot License, Nexgen will focus on additional instrument training to prepare the pilot for what to do in the case of inadvertent flight into instrument conditions.

While the private pilot certificate allows you to fly an airplane, the Instrument Rating allows you to fly the aircraft in a much wider realm of weather.  It is recommended that all pilots earn an Instrument Rating to greatly advance their skills, situational awareness, and safety as it enables you to fly through the clouds in low visibility conditions and down to as little as 200 ft above the ground.

The Commercial License is the first license that allows you to fly for hire.  Once you earn your Commercial certificate, that permits you to work for an FAA certificated Part 121 or 135 air carrier or any operations for hire that fall under Part 91 rules.  This rating requires minimum training in a complex aircraft whether single or multi engine, that has retractable landing gear, flaps, and a controllable pitch propeller.

According to the FAA, the CFI is the pinnacle for Pilot Licenses.  It is an often necessary license in order to advance one's career in aviation, but also will allow the pilot to learn more flying knowledge than any other rating.  Most pilots once finished with their training, become instructors as their first career as a pilot, and teach fellow aviators the "tricks of the trade", as they earn the necessary hours to move up to bigger iron.
